Astrobatch & Astromicro (Pellet Masterbatch)

The astropol colour Masterbatch range has a wide variety of applications mainly for on-line dosing on extruders, though addition to a mixer is sometimes used.

The general purpose 3mm Astrobatch range is mainly applied in flexible applications such as cable and hose.

The 2mm Astromicro range is a more recent development which has found favour in UPVC extrusion outlets in window frames, pipes including underground drain and rainwater goods, electrical ducting etc.

The PVC carrier system technology used in all our pellet masterbatches is unique. All the constituents of the formulation are totally PVC compatible yet the Masterbatch still disperses into the base compound equal to a wax or non-PVC carrier systems as used in 'Universal' masterbatches. The massive benefit of using our system is that all the common problems encountered using 'Universal' masterbatches are eliminated - Hence our philosophy of PVC into PVC.

Our Pellet Masterbatch do not give the problems often associated with Universal carrier systems which include rapid increase in extruder torque, severe plate out, pinhole blocking in downstream equipment, stick start shudder, and reduced physical properties.
In window profile applications, any potential problems with adhesion of foil to the profile are eliminated by using the Astrobatch products. Just as important, there is no requirement for extrusion staff to be continually adjusting running conditions.

In summary, the use of Astropol PVC masterbatches allows the customer to enjoy vastly improved plant efficiency and reduced scrap rates when the Masterbatch is used at the recommended addition level, together with unaffected physical properties and foil adhesion properties in the case of window profile. These benefits are only achievable of course within the boundaries made possible by the base formulation
